Neil Oates

I am Neil Oates. I have lived in the Town of Logy Bay/Middle Cove/Outer Cove just below Red Cliff since 1986. For many years I owned and operated a Inn in St. John’s and expanded into property management.

Municipal Government is more important to our daily lives than any other level of Government. Residents need to know that they will have proper water, sanitation, garbage removal, adequate protection from fires and that our community will not be turned into just another sprawling subdivision. I have had decades of experience in navigating my way through municipal Governments and fully understand the difficulties in coping with ever shifting rules and regulations.

Residents need an accessible Councillor to help them cut through the endless red tape and give clear timely advice on a path forward. Residents need a Councillor to nail down the tax impact before any expanded service programs are put forward that has no benefit to them.

We are all in this together. Whether we have lived in the area for generations or relocated just a few months ago, we each have the same rights and responsibilities. We must have a level playing field and know exactly what residents want and how the Town Council can our collective needs are met.

The only way we can do that is though consultation with you. Everybody who wants to be in the loop must be alerted to what is before the Council, so they have an opportunity for input.
