Harold Doucette
Hello, I would like to formally introduce myself. My name is Harold Doucette, and I have been a resident of Kippens my entire life.
I have always been proud to call Kippens my home, and know many of the people in the area whom I consider friends.
In the past, I have served on Kippens council from 1972-1976. I enjoyed serving on council during that time, and found it to be fulfilling knowing I was giving back to my community .
I have been Vice-Chief of the Port au Port Indian Band since 2015, and currently involved in getting a what was a forgotten Mi'kmaq cemetery recognized and respected, by placing monuments where our ancestors rest.
I am now retired after 20 years working with Newfoundland and Labrador housing as an Electrician, and spent an additional 10 years as an independent Electrical contractor.
During this time I have had countless conversations with the residents, and have learned that no matter what community I was working in, the residents seemed to have had the same issues . They want to be heard, and they want acknowledgement that they have been heard.
